Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

IELTS Practice is operated by Rooverr Technologies Inc, a Delaware corporation. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. For privacy questions or data requests, contact [email protected].

2. What we collect

  • Account details — your name and email address, provided through Google sign-in.
  • Payment information — handled by Stripe. We receive a subscription status and the last digits/brand of your card, but we never store your full card number.
  • Speaking audio & transcripts — when you take the Speaking section, your microphone audio is recorded and transcribed so an AI examiner can respond and give feedback.
  • Practice data — your answers, essays, attempts, scores, and progress.
  • Technical data — basic logs and a session cookie needed to keep you signed in.
  • Acquisition source — how you first found us: the page you landed on, the referring site, and any campaign or ad-click tags in the link (see section 8).

3. The Speaking recording, specifically

The Speaking section records your voice. That audio and its transcript are processed to run the live interview, transcribe what you said, and generate feedback. Audio is retained for 30 days and then deleted. If you would prefer not to be recorded, do not use the Speaking section.

4. Why we use your data

To provide and run the Service: authenticate you, deliver practice, grade and give feedback, track progress, process subscriptions, and improve reliability.

We also use limited data to understand which of our marketing brings students to us, including whether someone who clicked one of our Google search ads went on to create an account. That is what the attribution cookie and the Google Ads tag described in section 8 are for.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show third-party ads inside the Service.

5. Third-party processors

We share the minimum necessary data with these providers so they can perform their function:

  • Google — sign-in/authentication (your name and email).
  • Google Ads — measures whether our ads lead to sign-ups (see section 8). It does not receive your name or email address.
  • Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions.
  • Google (Gemini) — processes your Speaking audio for the live interview and transcription.
  • OpenRouter — routes your essay and answer text to AI models for grading and feedback.
  • ElevenLabs — generates the synthetic narration used in Listening content (this creates audio content; it does not process your personal data).

Each provider handles data under its own terms and privacy policy.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and practice data while your account is active. Speaking audio is kept for 30 days and then deleted. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep limited records (such as payment records) to meet legal obligations.

7. Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you can ask us to stop processing it. To make a request, contact [email protected]. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under local data-protection law.

8. Cookies and ad measurement

  • Sign-in cookie. Keeps you signed in. The Service does not work without it.
  • Our attribution cookie (ia_attr). A first-party cookie that records how you first found us: the page you landed on, the referring site, and any campaign tags or ad-click IDs in the link (for example, a Google Ads click ID). It lasts up to 90 days. When you create an account, what it holds is saved with your account and the cookie is removed. We do not share it with advertisers.
  • Google Ads conversion measurement. We advertise on Google, and our pages load Google's tag (gtag.js) so we can tell whether people who click our ads go on to sign up. Google may set its own cookies to do this (for example, _gcl_au, and _gcl_aw after an ad click). When you finish setting up a new account, we tell Google that a sign-up happened, together with a random internal account reference so that it is counted only once. We do not send Google your name or email address. Google handles this data under its own policies; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: we do not set our attribution cookie, and Google's tag starts with advertising and analytics storage turned off (Google Consent Mode), so your visit is not tracked for advertising by default. In this mode the tag sets no advertising or analytics cookies and does not use your visit for ad personalisation. Google may still receive limited information without cookies, such as that a page was viewed and that consent was not given.

We do not use cookies to show you ads inside the Service, and we do not sell the data these cookies collect.

9. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age.

10. Changes

We may update this policy and will notify you of material changes by email or in the app.
